One night won't be enough here at Sally's. It will be your home away from home.
The space
My guests appreciate that Casa Bellagina is not the usual boring flat that has been set up exclusively as a rental space. This used to be my home and when I can I occasionally return to it. It is bright, cosy, comfortable and well equipped. My space is suitable for a small family, a group of friends or a couple.
Casa Bellagina is ideally located for exploring both the lake and the surrounding mountains. Guests enjoy living life in a real village with essential amenities at their fingertips. Free public parking is available within walking distance.
The flat stays cool in summer and the balcony lets the breeze in. High ceilings and thick walls do not require air conditioning, but portable fans are available.
Smart TV and Netflix. I am delighted that all my guests have commented on how cosy the flat is!
You will find that it is spacious, cosy, perfectly clean and well equipped. Small balcony with a view of the mountains and local life in the square. The second bedroom can be made up with either two single beds or one double bed.
There is excellent lighting, mirrors and plenty of wardrobe space. It is cool in summer and cosy in winter with a wood-burning fireplace in the living/dining room, as well as central heating.
Take a seat on the balcony and sip an aperitif before dinner while admiring the sunset over the Grigne. There are 3 restaurants/pizzerias within easy walking distance. Self-catering is no problem as the kitchen is fully equipped and there is a well-stocked grocery shop within walking distance. Enjoy an Italian-style breakfast with pastries and brioches in the pastry shop below my flat or an espresso from your coffee machine.
You can drive to restaurants in the mountains behind Bellagio where the food is very authentic and the prices are lower. There are small hikes on the trails in the nearby mountains. Milan can be reached by train from Varenna or Lecco for a day of culture and shopping.
In and around Bellagio are the beautiful gardens: Villa Melzi, Villa Carlotta and Villa Balbianello (owned by FAI) There is a wide range of tourist guides and local information provided in the flat. You will receive a link to my digital guide when you make a booking. (I am unable to send you a link until then due to Airbnb rules).
Self-check-in means that you don't need to constantly keep in touch with me if you arrive early or late. This means you have more freedom, after all you are on holiday. Someone will always be available to help if needed.
I will help you figure out how best to get there by public transport and can organise a taxi service from the local ferry if needed. I will be happy to help you work out the details.
Access for guests
The flat is self-contained and for personal use only.
Other things to keep in mind
If at first you hesitate about the flat not being in Bellagio, let me assure you that my guests love the authentic village location. This way you get the best of both worlds: Bellagio with its timeless traditional charm and the almost rustic charm of Visgnola. You feel you are living in a real community, not just visiting as a tourist.
There is a bar on the piazza that is a favourite with the locals. It can be a bit noisy some weekends, but the bedrooms are on the other side of the flat.
Many guests arrive by public transport, but I highly recommend avoiding a night out if this is your choice. The good thing about Bellagio is that it is a little more difficult to get to, being right in the middle of the lake. There are no train stations, Uber or regular taxi service. Getting there takes time but is definitely worth it, so consider at least two nights.
