Visit some of Italy's most beautiful villas and gardens. Each has its own ambience and style.  I suggest starting at Villa Melzi by the lakeside in Bellagio. 

If you have more time, take a boat across the lake to charming Villa Carlotta and the movie set location,  Villa Balbianello. (Scenes from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Casino Royale were filmed here).

Located in a residential hamlet, Casa Bellagina is well-placed for mingling with the locals over a cappuccino or a glass of great wine.  Many locals come for their morning espresso and pastry at the lovely coffee shop below the apartment. Just steps away you'll also find a bar, grocery and 3 restaurants. 

Take a boat to the many and varied villages dotted around the shores of the lake.  Each has its own charm. I suggest starting with nearby Varenna, a little gem.  

Take a boat across the lake to Menaggio, Cadenabbia and Tremezzo. 

The fast hydrofoil will whisk you to the southern end of the lake to the town of Como with its magnificent cathedral, medieval history, great boutiques and more.

Relax with the locals at the lakeside beach. Those views are hard to beat and seem even more spectacular during a swim in the lake!
